Philosophies of Life

in #philosophy7 years ago

The journey towards greatness is often times characterized with challenges and sufferings untold. We are in a world where only the strong survives. Just like the state of nature as envisaged by Thomas Hobbes, in which man is wolf to his fellow man, we have witnessed a situation where we only survive by what our strength could carry. Indeed, life in this contemporary era brings us to the reality of the philosophical thoughts of Jean Jacques Rousseau in which he opined that "man was born free...but everywhere in chains". But in everything we find ourselves doing, and however we manage to keep ourselves going, we must always remember that we can only judged by the results we are able to show, and not really the means adopted in actualizing them. As rightly stated by Niccolo Machiavelli in his advice to the Prince of Lorenzo...."The end justifies the means".
