Cape Cobra Hire outing

in #photography4 years ago

Hi guys, so about two weeks ago I took a photo of a AC Cobra kit car standing next to the road on the side of Table Mountain, I uploaded the photo on Instagram and the owner of the Cobra hire company contacted me and said, listen, you can come over any time you like and we will take you for a spin in one of our Cobras, I decided that I need to get over there as soon as possible!

So these guys have the biggest collection of AC Cobra kit cars in the world that are for hire. They have 20 cars of witch 15 are always on the road and 5 are getting maintenance.

We went out in this very special red one, it is special because it is one of twenty that has a very special suspension setup, very much like the push rod suspension used in F1 cars.

We took the car for a drive down to Bloubergstrand (meaning Blue Mountain Beach in English) and yes, that is Table Mountain in the background.

I just want to say thanks to the guys again, it was so much fun, I cannot wait for the next time!

As you can see here we are just a bunch of boys playing with, starting up and revving the engines, it is so much fun to be around like minded car nuts like myself!

And I have to thank my girlfriend for being patient and taking photos of everything, because I was so into the cars I forgot to take photos!

Sort:

It must be quite an experience... btw, very cool pic of the wheel (it's you or your girlfriend who took the photo ? :-) ).
@tipu curate

Haha, yes it was her, but she is a very good photographer

Now, I'm going to have a doubt about the beautiful bird pictures :-)

Only me and the birds know the truth...

I took the one of the line of cars from the back, the top one and the one of the gear lever and the interior of the car

Lovely kit car, and great photography!

It seems to be a pretty accurate recreation of the original Cobra. May I ask, as to more details about it - what engine does it have?

Hi and thanks! These cars all have a 5.7l Chevy V8, I think LS1

Nice...I think the LS V8 is a fitting engine for this car.
