Vintage Photos - Goodwill Lot 1 (193-196)

I made some impulse buys after getting a new scanner and picked up several batches of slides a while back from Goodwill and eBay. These pictures span from as early as the late 1940s to as late as the early 1990s. There are thousands of these slides. I will be scanning some from time to time and posting them here mainly because I find them an interesting way to look back at the past.

I don't know a whole lot about the ultimate origins of this batch of slides other than they came from Goodwill. Like previous batches, these too often have a date stamped on them that I assume indicates when the film was developed and I believe in most cases should give approximate dating for the photograph itself. So far these seem like mostly vacation photos that were taken in the 1960s and 1970s. I've identified places in Italy, France, Mexico, and Hawaii so far.

All of the photos in this set were processed in August 1970. That places them in Italy based on photos in previous sets with the same date.

The first photo is hard to place exactly as there isn't much to go on. A gate and some old architecture. I suppose if you have been wherever this is you might recognize it. It's probably somewhere in either Florence or Pisa.

The second photo features a painting by Sandro Botticelli called Madonna of the Magnificat. This has been owned by the Uffizi Gallery since the late 18th century and presumably that is where this photo was taken.

The third photo features the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, Italy.

The last photo features the Santa Maria della Spina which is a small church in Pisa, Italy that was originally built in 1230.

My Friday thingy notified me that you talked about Heroes of Might and Magic, and I came to your blog to find a thrift store post- I love both of these things!

Although I did not know there was a gameboy version, HMM3 is my favroite game (hence my name haha)... As for these slides- wow! It is really amazing what you can find at goodwill. I'm so glad you purchased these and shared them here, they are wonderful!

I hope it is not rude to mention, but I actually started a thrifting community, would be awesome to see some of your finds over there sometime! 😄
