Power Outage

I woke up sweating, wondering why the fan is turned off. It’s a nice fan, my trusty old computer fan, so it shouldn’t fail me while I sleep. Plucking it out and back in the outlet, nothing. Flip the light switch, nothing. Next one, nothing. Shit. Check the circuit breakers, all seems to be fine there. Check the elevator, only an emergency light is on. Fuck.

pow2.jpg

It’s scolding hot in the city and all the power is cut off from the whole block. Someone fucked up with an excavator in the construction site next door.

I love hot, but I’m melting, the freezer will soon start melting too. There is precious moose meat in there, don’t want it to get spoiled. The beer in the fridge is still cold, better not waste it.

Cold shower, that cooled me down for all of five minutes.

At least the wireless connection works and I can get some work done. Fast forward to my battery being at 3 percent, lifeline dwindling. Goodbye cruel world in 3, 2….

The fan just turned on, woosh, we are back in business. What a tragical five hours it has been. First world problems for sure.

Me by me with the Nikon D7200 and Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8.

It’s pathetic how vulnerable we are, and I don’t like the feeling. Power outages in the winter time are normal in the countryside, but power hardly even goes out in the city, especially not in the summertime. At least in the homehome we have our own generator for emergency power. In the city I’m completely dependent on people I don’t know. Trust issues anyone?

This is how wars start, first it’s a few power outages here and there, then the internet starts to slow down and cut off more and more. If Russia wanted to invade Finland, all they would have to do is shut the gas lines in the dead of winter and in two weeks, we’d be ready to surrender what ever demands they have. Self sufficiency is only a distant memory for this country.

I always keep my electronics powered and have spare batteries, and I have canned food to last me for weeks. I have cash, a passport and getaway bags always packed and ready to bug out. Though I don’t have a getaway car or guns, need seriously work on getting those. Oopsie, this turned dark real fast. This is how my brain works, quite dramatic at times. We are fine, let’s get back to the day to day life. I hope you enjoyed this.

Wow, those photos were so hot i ended up in a pool of sweat......

Ooopsie, I'm sooo sorry! Let me help you with that. gets the mop

So usually when you wake up sweaty, your fan is turned on. Or your fans are turned on?

Usually my fans are turned on when I'm sweaty.

Oh my gawd! Phewf it feels hot in my room now as well! 😅

Well played sister. Gorgeous photos. Evocative post! You’re back!

Well you are hot and you live in Puerto Rico, so no wonder it's hot in there! 😘 Thank you!

Damn!! That production quality is 10/10, I love your use of natural light in these... Glad to see you still loving that Sigma 18-35mm too :) I've been thinking about trying to make a couple of self-portraits, but I dont really know where to start.. Do you have any beginner tricks or tips for me?

Thank you so much Tristan! :)

Hmm, I think my first tip is always to find good natural light, it's always the most flattering. Then the next would be to have fun with the selfies, do it when you are alone and have time, play around with all sorts of angles to find what looks the best. For technical tips, if you can use your phone as a remote, you'll have a much easier time because your can see what you look like in the screen. I could talk all day about self portraits so I think I need more specific question so I won't ramble about everything 😅

I really enjoyed the end, it is great to see that there are other people keeping an eye on a potential invade from the Russia side. My country is even closer to theirs so I imagine that considering our defense system, if Russia would want it, in 24 hours, my country would change its name and how it looks on the map right now.

But as you said it let's see the bright side, it is summer and you have some amazing photos right here!

"I woke up sweating, wondering why the fan is turned off."
I am so glad your next thought was "damn, I need to take some pictures of my hot semi- naked body"

I hope your power never comes back on as long as you can find a way to charge your camera battery, do you have a car?

Haha, it literally was my second thought! 😝 The perfect inspiration for a little photo session.

The power is back on, but don't worry, I'll keep more bikini pictures coming in the near future.

when life gives you lemons, take some hot selfies. God bless your thought process.

Installing a inverter in home will help i guess

We are very vulnerable. At least you had internet. 5 hours isn't a train smash though. i have never eaten Moose, what is it similar too in the taste department?

Haha, great post, and you were writing about slacking in your previous post. Ready for everything I see, you should definitely work on a getaway car, but I'm not so sure about the guns:) I agree about the dependency, we really seem to be lost if the power goes out, even for a short period of time, which is pretty scary. Oh, and great photos, you used the available light perfectly!

Thank you very much, I really needed to pull myself together and raise the heat after all the slacking! :)

i like the photos....

Sweating over here. Eiku se oliki vaan kuolaa :'D

No molempi parempi!

No jos kaksistaan oltais x)

This is dangerously close to a fluff piece. However, your fluff always has entertainment value.

I had to google fluff piece, I didn't like it 😤

I knew you wouldn't. That's why I warned you. Of course, your fluff puts all other fluffers to shame.😁

Somebody has a prepping fetish 😃

Someone just wants to have her stuff ready if she needs to run away on short notice :P

& then u gave me the prepper fetish 😂

Came for the pictures, stayed for the nerd talk. What kind of computer fan is that, looks like a pretty large/decent one...?

I don't talk nerd fluently, so I don't know. Dad gave it to me years ago😅

The best kind of tech; free tech!

eveuncovered is back! Great to see! :)

Exactly why I stick around. Where else would a selfie bikini shoot include a conversation involving power outages, food and even prepping?!
Never assume you know what the text will be about by looking at the pictures. I like that! Never boring. Sometimes a soft post and sometimes a spark, out of the blue, that you never expected. That's why I always look forward to checking what eveuncovered is posting today, with my morning coffee!

Thank you again and Please, carry on! ;)

Well I need not say much as you know I'm a fan of your work and glad to see you kept it cheeky, steamy, sweaty hahahaha. Good work Eve, really good photos and keeping your "fan's"turned on even when off.
People indeed are too reliant on governments and service providers. Have a gas stove, gas geyser and gas heater with self provided freestanding gas bottles. Keep a gas fuel camp stove and lamp packed in that bug out bag along with a roll up solar panel and rechargeable batteries + charger with an adapter for your solar panel. Make sure sure to have bug out equipment that take the same battery size.
As for a gun, learn to take guns from others, once a gun is acquired, most people won't hesitate to give you a car. Knife is a better weapon, along with a Taser and some mase. Make sure to have vaseline, condoms, a firestriker, enough paracord and two way radio with portable dish antenna. Dark is what it turns when you need and not have. Rather have and not need.
