Cooking and food photography

in #photography5 years ago (edited)

Recently I have been thinking about getting work in photography, so one of the things I would need to do that, would be making a diverse portfolio. I have done quite a few landscape, portrait and animal photos, but none in the food area so I decided I would give it a go.

My cooking skills aren't amazing, however I manage to keep the house from burning down. Today I made up some garlic and rosemary potatoes with chicken schnitzel. I don't have a particular recipe I follow I just go with the flow.

The schnitzel was made with some chicken breasts sliced thinner, then dipped in flour, egg and breadcrumb mixture. I made the breadcrumb mixture from toasted bread, oats and herbs and blended it together also adding some salt. Then I cooked them in a frying pan with some oil.

The potatoes were fairly simple they were peeled, diced and cooked tossed in some oil on 180°c for an hour except I did 50 minutes which was a bit short. Then I finely chopped some garlic and rosemary to go with them.

I served it with some cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and avocados all chopped up and a couple leaves of mint.

It took around an hour to make and would've only of served a couple of hungry people. It tasted pretty good and I think it was a success.

Nice. Were those spuds soft inside? They don't look quite dark enough.

Some were some weren't, I should've cooked them for longer though.
