Experiments With Macro Photography

in #photography5 years ago

I have attempted doing macro photography where you reverse the lens. Reversing the lens let's you get a lot closer, but has it's issues as you don't get as much light in. As I do not own a clip for it I held it by hand, which meant I shook and got occasional light flares.

I find I get extremely close up, but at the moment I just use my phone as it gets close up and let's in a lot more light. Unfortunately, I do not get as close up as when using the hack of reversing the lens.

Taken with the camera lens flipped. This is a pepino flower about 2cm diameter.

A aphid taken with camera again.

Taken on Samsung A8 phone.

I have bought some lenses for my phone for this purpose and it allows me to get over twice as close. It also works if you have a magnifying glass to put in front of the phone camera. I got the lenses quite cheaply off the internet. It's quite a fun thing to experiment with!

I saw a guy (online) use a drop of water on the lens of his phone camera, to do macro stuff.
Would make for an interesting effect.

I have tried that, but I find the water unpredictable it doesn't seem to like me.
