Tasmania Trip Photo Journey Day 3

in #photography5 years ago

We had made our lunch for the day and set off into Hobart for the market. We walked around and saw some beautiful stores, then ended up watching a group of people playing the bagpipes.

From there we went to kunanyi/Mt Wellington where we had lunch and saw some awesome views. It was quite cold, but was very fun.

We then drove back down and enjoyed some nice beaches.

This little hermit crab was in one of the many rock pools.

I wouldn't mind cold if I would get to enjoy such stunning views :) It's an amazing place! I might have a silly question.. but are there all lakes? Sometimes it's difficult to see the difference between a lake or a sea/ocean (only at some places of course :))

Your photos are amazing. I like the combination of mountains with water. It's very nice :)

Thank you for sharing and have a nice day! :)

Thank you :)

There was quite a big river that goes through Hobart and it leads to the ocean so it's all sea water. Which is where the beach photos were. There are also quite a few small lakes dotted around, then some really big ones towards the middle of the island, quite a way from Hobart and the East side of Tasmania. We didn't really get to see them as we mostly traveled up and down the East coastline :)

I can picture Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas bounding over those boulders. Haven't done NZ yet; but I've heard good things.

I haven't been there either I just know that there is a Mount Wellington there as well.

Lol. I got my islands mixed up. Gotta remember to read the title :)

Hello @izzydawn
for hardcore travelers like us Tasmania is definitely another place to put on the wish list !! the photos are wonderful, sea and mountains together, what could be more beautiful?
what time of year did you go? how long do you recommend staying there for a good visit?
congratulations and thanks for sharing with us

Yeah, we went late autumn mostly to visit friends, but we got to travel around for a week which was really fun. It can get very cold so if you're good at withstanding that you would be fine. I still think a maybe two weeks or more would have been better as we would have been able to go to more places or maybe have a bit more relax days, instead of cramming tons of places in a week.

yes, better the cold than the heat !! doing things in a hurry when traveling is a real shame, sometimes it becomes a real marathon !! but unfortunately sometimes there are no alternatives !!

Amazing, beautiful place. I see all fellowship of the ring walking through the hills.
Tasmania is on my bucket list, and every time someone put a photo from this place I want to go more and more.

It would probably have looked more intriguing there with some snow to add to the scene.

This looks surreal and peaceful. I like that picture of that tall maybe lighthouse? Is that a lighthouse? I have never heard even on internet how bagpipes sounds, I am gonna do it now, just to feed my curiosity, Good share, congrats on your curie :):)

I wasn't quite sure, but I had a look apparently it's a transmission tower. I liked it because you could measure how foggy/cloudy it was getting up there :)

Posted using Partiko Android

Oh a transmission tower, hmm it could be that too. Now you used it a as fog meter, lol just kidding :P

Beautiful pictures. Both the macro and the micro.
That imagine of the tower (sort of, can't tell what that is) is just amazing. I thought at the begining it was a plam or coconut tree as part of some sort of montage.
It made me think of the biblical Tower of Babel
What is the town like? the one we see from the mountain top. It looks so peaceful and rural. I wonder if it is actually like that.

The towns are quite peaceful and lovely, however most of the housing is near the city where it starts to get a bit more crowded.

Wow, Izzy. What an amazingly beautiful place to live. I am way up on the otherside of the world. Hello from Canada. I have been to Australia but alas did not make it to Tasmania. I can see I missed out on a whole lot. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. I have to know what was the large tower thing? Some kind of telescope. It certainly was high up. The other question I have for you. Does it ever snow in Tasmania and do you have a spare room? LOL

To be fair im not quite sure what the tower was, it looked pretty intriguing though. We were told by the people we stayed with that it does occasional snow on the mountains and that. It's got quite a good view as all you see is mountains around the city with a lovely river going through the middle. It's a lot different from where we live in Adelaide.

I love Adelaide. It was one of my faves when I went to Aus. Loved the river and the surrounding vineyards are so nice:)

I have always wanted to visit Australia at some point and Hobart as well. It looks like everyone lives in the major towns from your photo and I thought it would have been a bit more spread out. When you think of Tasmania you don't think of it a s a big place , but it isn't that small.

There are 32 C outside now, so I'd love to take a walk at that place. The photos are spectacular and the place is beautiful. I guess I would have spent hours photographing every little detail. Thanks for sharing, you've brought a little comfort in this hot weather.
