The once-seasonly wetlands of Iraq have now become dry and deserted by the Central Marsh. The reservoir of 20,000 sq km is now dried and the soil bursts.
At one time more than half of the total fish supply in Iraq came from this pond. Later it was excavated in 1991 under Saddam Hussein's era. Due to climate change in the last 30 years, the temperature of this region increased by 5 percent. As a result, fish and aquatic animals have died. Although the narrow canal with two or three hands is made, there is very little water level.
