MG L-Type Special 1933 at Vernasca Silver Flag

This is one of the pro photos of my run at Vernasca Silver flag. It was an amazing event. For me it was something like 1/3 racing, 1/3 historic and 1/3 social.

This car has originally been built and sold as a limousine. Later it has been “upgraded” into a race car by adding a super-charger (Compressor) sitting in front of the car and changing the car body. Hence it is called “special” as opposed to those cars that were built as race cars right from the start.

The engine produces more than 100 hp for a total eight of the car below 700 kg. It is totally amazing what tech was around in 1933.

The weight / power ratio of that car is surprising for a vehicle of that time friend @mariusfebruary, I am also passionate about vehicles and many more modified.

I have a Vw Kombi that has been modified, I modified the body to raise the roof.

Now I want to modify the engine to make it more powerful. At present it has a very simple motor of approximately 35 HP. I want to duplicate that power. I'm thinking of replacing it with a 1600 cc Fiat Uno engine.

I want to gather about 600 sbd to complete and modify it, this truck is to start a project with the children of the communities in Venezuela.

Success in your next competitions.

It is surprising that a 1933 vehicle could generate 100 horsepower.

As for the capture: it seems to me that despite the speed at which the vehicle was going, the photo has no blur, and it is well centered.

In general, it is a beautiful vehicle, beautiful photo on a beautiful day.

Hugs, dear friend!

The super-charger (Compressor) definitely made all the difference inu opinion because I felt it looked like a Jeep too that's been modified to race really. Sweet beast there if you ask me, is it a speedster?

This experience must be very special for anyone who loves race and exhibition cars, I'm a Formula 1 fan and my dream is to watch even a live race.

Thanks to the mechanical knowledge and the goodness of the technology these vehicles have been recovered and improved, very good work of your team to keep this relic alive.

Hello dear @mariusfebruary, it is truly something historical, not everyone has the opportunity to live this kind of experience, I would have liked to be your copilot.

Hello @mariusfebruary, I wish you success with your car, I hope that beautiful machine behaves well, I like speed on four wheels. These old cars today can be considered a work of art. I personally regret that some old models are not made at least in limited series. I would buy some kind of car of the 60s or 70s and would be quite happy

超級充電器 肯定會產生所有不同的意見,因為我覺得它看起來像一輛,它已被修改為真正的比賽。如果你問我,那裡有甜蜜的野獸,它是一個快車嗎?

Fantastic car thanks for sharing it with us😁

Excellent, 9 decades from its design and still retains an unparalleled style, the transformation fits the measure, an old car with a modern heart.

wao, it is very well preserved to be from the year 1933, I congratulate you!

Holy fuck Marius you are godmode enable. Incredible.

Hi Marius
I wanted to ask how hard it is to drive such a car. I once drove an Opel from the 40s. The car had a very "heavy" steering wheel.

It requires getting adjusted big time. Steering is heavier than modern cars. Especially since I have geared it in such a way that I can go full angle both sides without letting go any of my hands. It is a good idea to first get acquainted with cars of the 40ties/50ties before riding or maintaining pre-war cars 😉

Where do you buy spare parts for such a car? Does the retro car owner get insurance?

Sheesh!? 1933! And my washing machine barely survived a year...

Wow. I wish I could show my dad this. He is an old car enthusiast but I live in Mauritius and my parents in South Africa. When I visit them I'll try and remember to share this with him. Love the photo

Hi @mariusfebruary, it is awesome to read that it was changed to a racecar and then it has "only" over 100 hp. But considering that it is from around 1933, it is a hell of a job. I think steering and breaking has no real support from any other systems. What was the max speed you achieved with the car? Did you have issues driving the tour?

With the current gears (ideal for hill climbs) I can go at max 130 km/h but this feels crazy. The gearbox is a Wilson preselector that is fantastic to drive https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preselector_gearbox. The car handles great in turns.

Haha I can imagine. If you shift do you use between gas?
I restaurated an old Vespa V50 (1967) this year. Now it drives perfect and it feels awesome to drive a historic vehicle :)

Would be a dream to test drive such a car once :)

@mariusfebruary, This picture reminding me one of those movies in which cars are living things and talk with human beings. This picture is epic for sure. Now you can deep dive into these memorable times. Stay blessed.

Extremly rare car! You are lucky to own this car.

Great your invention, good that you had a good time, that's the idea to enjoy.

Hello Sir, how nice is your car, it makes me remember the movie cars, if your car was in that movie it was a nice grandpa.

in my opinion, this car is in great demand by car collectors, and I hope to have this car someday.

Mostrerò questa foto a mia nonna: lei c’era, quando circolavano normalmente queste auto! 👏😂

La foto è stupenda, guidare l’auto deve essere davvero molto emozionante! 🥰

It's cool. I prefer to think of it as an antique car.😄

Great car! Now they are very rare.
