Processing and Planting Fresh Ginger

Happy Saturday Steemit!

Today I am processing ginger ( into my personal Yogi Tea recipe ) and planting more ginger for the future!

My recipe has been honed just the way I like it. The tea is amazing good for you as well as tasting better than anything you can buy in the shops.
A mix of fresh ginger root, fresh turmeric root, a little clove, whole black pepper, lemon juice and honey.
Pepper is included in the recipe as it increases dramatically your bodies ability to process the turmeric.

It is such a powerhouse of health and vitality. And is the MOST delicious... did I say that already? Well maybe but when something tastes this good and does your mind and body so much good, its hard not to shout it from the rooftops! You simply HAVE to try it if you haven't yet.
Clears the mind, helps me focus, takes away aches and pains. It's all good news.

Is it time for a change?

It is so easy to make, takes only twenty minutes to simmer the roots and spices. It is liquid medicine - to start brewing such teas in your life is SO SIMPLE, if you usually drink the usual tea, coffee, coke, Fanta, whatever, just take the step and give it a go. Within a few days of drinking this you will understand my enthusiasm and your body will be saying thank you in more ways than you can conceive of right now.
You don't have to give up the other things of course, everyone enjoys a cup of coffee now and again. Just mix it up and give you body a few days rest from time to time ( honestly though once you start feeling the benefits I do think that a shift in your perception will occur and you will start to consciously make better choices for your health and well being.

And just in case anyone is thinking - "yeah but I need pharmaceuticals to be able to concentrate, or shift a backache or migraine", well hey try this for a week and then see if you feel the same. This comes with NO side effects, just a multitude of benefits.

And then to plant back a few choice pieces of root already sprouting into life!

If you want to try growing your own buy a chunk of root from an organic supplier and watch for roots sprouting. Plant with the points upwards.

Thanks, I'm definitely going to try the tea and maybe even planting some once the weather warms up as I doubt ginger grows well here, but always fun to try :)

Yummie! I have a friend staying with me, recovery from serious head trauma. The tea witch in me has been in full broom all week lol! I have been making ginger, turmeric, black pepper, cloves, burdock, cardamon and lots of rose hips, sometimes I leave the black pepper turmeric out and do rose hips, oatstraw, and mullein with the ginger.. yum yum yum, thanks for sharing! I've tried growing turmeric and ginger twice now and have over watered.. I think my soil wasn't draining enough and we have cold winters too. Time to build a greenhouse!

Mmmmmmm @kimmysomelove your recipes have my eyebrows rising! Sounds delicious! Is that mullein flowers you use?

I use the leaves for tea, you could use the flowers, but those are reeeeally swell for ear aches especially... infuse the flowers in olive or good topical organic oil, then strain, great ear ache oil especially for children and infants. The leaves though is what I LOVE in tea, tastes like the juice of life @sallybeth

That’s amazing - I had heard about mullein for earache but always best to get first hand info from a user lol I love that it works so well. Oh btw I am sallybeth23. Not sallybeth ( helps me see comments quicker if it’s written correctly that’s all no biggie )

Definitely going to plant some ginger: can't wait to see what the leaves will look like! (No, I won't spoil the surprise and google.)

In which type of soil do the ginger roots do best?

Awesome question thank you - Answer is nothing too heavy - moist and well draining is ideal.

In Thailand we only use "2 year old ginger" (as in 2 full seasons in the ground) for medicine & tea, and "young ginger" (just one year in the ground) for cooking. Is that the same in Costa Rica?

You can dilute to suit your particular taste and put more or less lemon to ginger and turmeric if you prefer. Just however it seems right. It will empower you just the same.

This sounds wonderful and I am going to have to find the organic roots and go for it.

OH yes do do that! You will not be disappointed and you body will thank you for it.

Cant grow it where I am but do love a ginger tea. Might do a week of it this week... thanks for reminder! Just ran out of root. Might do a long walk to shop this morning for some

I keep it in the fridge and it lasts for more than a week although having said that it is so delicious it never hangs around for more than a few days normally
