The wonders of nature

in #photography7 days ago

This picture was taken on my Xolo mobile camera years back and I remember posting about it on the blockchain. I think I even got a huge vote for it. It encouraged me to take more such photographs. I have noted over the years that mobiles that cost more have not given me such sharp photos ever since.

Nature is so wonderful. If only one stops and looks at it more closely and observes its beauty. It could be a flower. It could be a bee. It could be the worm.

These button roses or Japanese roses are really pretty but do not have a scent, unfortunately. They bloom in the morning and fade by late afternoon. So, these cannot be used to prepare floral bouquets either as they would wither soon. Button roses can be grown in pots too and kept on windowsills. It can also be grown on designed paths if you have a garden. Regular maintenance is necessary as overgrowth of the stems can hinder flowering.

Images of the river Periyar in Kerala. These were also taken years back before the 2018 floods that kind of destroyed the river banks. it had been a beautiful experience about which I had written about. I have visited the place after the floods but not later. Recently, there have been a lot of wild elephants roaming around the place. So, it is a bit unsafe now. Other wild animals too are entering the village areas. Recently, wild pigs have been encroaching on farmlands and even approached our cattle shed but our mother cow woke us up at night with her alarmed moos. After that, we have scared the wild pigs off by lighting firecrackers but it would be better to install lights that will keep such wild animals away. Wild pigs may not harm the cattle but there have been reports of wild cats in other parts of my state. I guess, it is the people who encourage deforestation who are to be blamed.

There were pineapple farmers who leased our farmland once upon a time. I wish they had continued it. Nature also gives us rich food that cannot be taken lightly. The farmer is the most unselfish person who works hard all day and even at night sometimes to produce food for all. I just hope that young people experience farming at least once during their lifetimes to understand the hardships of the job and feel grateful for the food they consume.

Nature's wonders cannot be limited to such a post. Please do take time and walk in the nature and appreciate the beauty. Also, write about it on Hive if you can.
