New Prints Hung Today

in #photography4 years ago

I hung some new prints at The Pub at Donner Lake today. Sadly, fireworks won't be happening in Truckee, California this year because of all the covid madness, so I thought I'd bring a fireworks print to Donner Lake instead. The fireworks shot was taken during last year's show.

This second image was shot about 20 minutes after the first image above, during the mass exodus of traffic after the show. The stop and go traffic up Old Hwy 40 provided some incredible light up the summit. I actually had packed my camera bag up after the fireworks and was about to head to the car when I noticed the traffic and decided to hang out for a bit longer to let things die down. Then I was like WAIT A MINUTE! And I got the camera back out to shoot again. Glad I did!

I hope you are all having a great weekend!

That second shot was a damn fine reason to unpack the camera gear again, it looks fantastic.

Indeed! I felt silly for not realizing the photo potential at first but yeah, unpacked and it ended up being a great shot! Thank you!

i really need to try and print something big :D

how is life? is everything ok? is it still crazy in your parts of the woods?

Yes, there is something special about seeing one of your own images printed up huge, it's a good feeling knowing the artwork will probably outlive the artist.

Life is good. Having a puppy has been crazy, keeps up so busy. I have to go back to the hospital this week. They'll be putting a little camera inside my brain again. How many photographers can say they've had a camera inside their brain, twice?! lol. I'm sure I'll be fine but honestly, not looking forward to it. As long as they can keep my brain working a bit longer, I'm cool with it.

I hope everything is going great with you. Cheers!

maybe you could ask for a print :D fuck, can't even imagine that. I heard Elon Musk talking about some neuro something stuff, maybe we will taking photos with our eyes in 15 years :D

take care.

i really can't complain.
it was a weird time, but small country no food problems, living in a village so no problem with being trapped in apartment for 2-3 days.

Lol! Yes, I might ask for a print of my brain, I like that idea!

That's awesome that you haven't really been having too many problems in your village. I live in a small town but we are only 3 hours from San Francisco so we were still getting a ton of visitors, even when everyone was still taking the corona thing seriously. They were emptying out our little grocery store shelves. We almost ran out of toilet paper in our house, but it never got too bad. We were alright. I'm also lucky I have a hiking trail just down the street from my house so I was able to get out and get some exercise. My son's college did shut down, however. He was supposed to do an internship this summer but he's back home instead.

Take care!

well the difference is, you live in a place where people want to go, i kinda do not :D

i am a hour from Belgrade (capital) but no one really wants to come and visit. Maybe some people that are in naive art.

Ha! These days, I wish I lived somewhere people didn't want to go. Truckee just keeps getting busier and busier every year. We need tourist $ here but I keep saying this place is turning into Little San Francisco. Oh well, I understand why everyone wants to come here. I had never visited the area until I was 19 years old but I moved to Tahoe two weeks later, lol.

also, after all this happening i think a lot of people that have an opportunity will want to try and move to a less crowded places.
