A Giant Sunflower to Brighten your Day

This beautiful specimen came up in my garden on its own, along with several healthy basil plants, and I decided to plant a little flower bed around them. I laid landscape fabric down, and circled in the bed with pretty stones which you can't see anymore because of the grass. And I planted two prickly pears on either end, with some marigolds down the center of the bed. It looks like the whole bed is covered in grass, but those are actually clippings from where I had mowed around it. You can see that my garden is a mess from this picture. This is the only bed that really thrived, thanks to the landscape fabric! I will be utilizing the fabric in all my beds next spring, because we are going to adopt the no-till gardening method. This was the healthiest sunflower I've ever seen, so I was proud of it and wanted to show it off, even though it came up on its own. It looks to be about 9 feet tall, and the flower is over a foot in diameter! I'm going to have to use an axe to chop it down later this fall so we can harvest the seeds. Well I hope this brightened your day while the crypto market continues to crash and burn. Might as well weather the storm with a grin!

Thank you. I wish I had a better camera. I took this with my cell phone. I'll put up some more pictures of my garden this week.
