First of all for those who still don’t know what plagiarism is, it is the act of copying somebody else's content with there proper consent and presenting the content as of their own, the copied content can by any thing ranging from small recipes to huge articles and even the photographs too.
Plagiarism on Steemit is a huge problem, on the one hand people are working hard and investing a lot of time to create original content which surely would add a value to the Steemit community (some of them still don’t get awarded for it) and on the other hand some people are shamelessly copying popular content from the internet and posting them as their own, even earning upvotes in the process. Isn’t it a laugh on the face of the people who are working hard ?
Well there are few services in place in Steemit to check for plagiarism like the bot @cheetah which continuously scans post for plagiarized content, while it performs very good but it is just a bot and there is not so much it can do like scan for plagiarized images. Then there are @steamcleaners who finds and publishs a daily report of plagiarism done on Steemit, they do extensive work for that and are really good at their work but is that all ?
Where is your responsibility as an Steemian to find and report a Plagiarized content ? I understand that some of you wanted to help but didn’t knew how to, so know lets get directly to the tricks to find a Plagiarized content.
Many times you can judge a content as plagiarized just by reading it, if you find ir-regularities in the style of writing (Some paragraph looks extremely well written and other look kiddish) it surely is a big sign for it. If you thinks a content is more sophisticated content then the last one by the same user it can be plagiarized too(This is not for sure thou).
If you think a content is plagiarized to be sure you can use a online tool mentioned below(or you can use any tool of similar kind) to check for the same.
For text plagiarism
Open this link http://www.smallseotools.com/plagiarism-checker/ and paste the text to check for plagiarism in the box, verify you are human by checking I am not a robot and hit Check plagiarism, and bam ! you will get instant results.
For example I copied this health advice from internet
Aim for 2 and a half hours of moderate activity, like brisk walking or dancing, every week. If you're OK with vigorous exercise, stick to 1 hour and 15 minutes a week of things like running or playing tennis. Add a couple of days of strength training, too.
If you're busy, try short bursts of activity throughout the day. Walk often. A good target is 10,000 steps a day. Take the stairs. Park your car far away from your destination.
I checked it for plagiarism and found the below result
100% plagiarized !! now to find the source of the content I will copy the line shown as plagiarized and search it directly on google and hey
I found three websites with the same content, These website have also plagiarized their content from each other :P
Now you can site source for the original content too.
for photo plagiarism use google image search upload your image and you will get direct links for the original photo if there are any.
for example I am going to check this photo for plagiarism.
I searched it on google image search and here are the main sources of the photo.
See !! how easy it is?
So, You have found plagiarized content now what ?
You can leave a comment linking the direct source of the content in the post but make sure to check if the content is not copyright free or a public domain image (More on this in next post) making it Ok to use, like the copyright free image I used in the example, you can also report the plagiarism to steemcleaners by adding @steemcleaners tag in your comment on the plagiarized post and the best part is you will even get paid for it.
Sorry for the long post but I hope you all now know how to find and report plagiarism so use it and make Steemit a plagiarism free community.

Nice mate...fairly simple. I used google images to check. You only need Google...Google knows everything ; )
Google surely knows everything about everyone :)
The Art / Drawing tags need more awareness towards anti-plagiarism & spamming.
People need to check a users blog feed rather than blind upvoting/commenting on a user they haven't seen before.
You'll notice a pattern in spammers posting stock photos, re-steeming random posts and posting random drawings as their own which are all unsigned and in different styles. Mute spammers and you'll notice in other spammers blog feeds that they are re-steeming each other to boost their rankings and you can start to spot spammer teams/bots/fake accounts.
Artists - sign your work with your @ name & date (if new work).
If posting older work, describe your process and materials so we know its yours.
Yes the tagging is also abused so much, I have seen many people tagging their post in introduceyourself just because it has very much visibility ... and your are right about checking the blog feed you can say a lot about the user by looking at that ... Art tag is misused so much just because it has a very long list of followers including many whales .. so a proof of work Like a sign is surely needed.
i always add tags that my post fits in, i've said it again and i will keep saying it, authenticity people!
Picasso said "good artist copy, great artist steal".
But I agree, taking someone's work and labeling it your own is foul play.
yes ! it demeans the work and effort of the original creator.
