I have been itching to make some videos about walking, photography and history as you might already know, I’ve talked about it before on my blog. There are a lot of intriguing footpaths around the area in which I live. Many of which I spot whilst driving somewhere and so I’ve decided to set out on a hike, find ways of connecting the old routes together.
The whole process of getting to know my local OS maps and tracing the history of the area; there are saxon and roman stories to find and trace.
Berkshire has some well signposted bridlepaths, green lanes and many others that I strongly suspect are riddled with folklore.
I spotted these books recently that I reckon might give me a little nudge along my way.
@steevc you will remember the author of the above book as he was one of the guests on Infinite Monkey Cage, the one you and I went to see being recorded - that was a great night, thoroughly enjoyed it. Should do another sometime.
Should easily plot some of these out on the map, I find the history and the connection between places, highly fascinating.
The allure of the coastal paths, never dwindles for me. Adventures aplenty, beckon like the smell of salty sea air.
Any similar books you are fond of?
That looks like some paths around here. Must be a haven for wildlife. I don't tend to read too many of that sort of book, but I would like to know more about birds and plants that I see.
I'm definitely up for another radio show. Not done one since we went.
The images were not showing on peakd, but do on hive.blog. That happens a lot and I'd hope it will get fixed eventually.
!BEER
Let’s see what is on radio show wise. I want to get better at trees, as I used to be very good at identifying them when I was a kid( computers have since corrupted my RAM.
Love Monty Python!!
Not heard much about the Larch recently 🙂
I like the book about signs and clues, one for my list.
I subscribed to the online OS maps but I haven't got on too well with it.
Anything I can help you with?
I think it may require diligence 😁
