Do not go out alone,
And deny your need for my love,

Do not travel without a helper,
And say all is well,
And you do not need my shelter.
Let good in,
Accept my gifts,
I am a cheerful giver.
Return to me,
Don't go alone,
Don't stay out there to shiver.
Needs are more than protection from death,
Some are necessities for the fullness of life,
For without them one might as well die.
Return to me out of the cold night,
Let me warm you with my smile
And words of kindness
And acts of generosity
And my embrace.
