I like to write in poetic forms. It helps me channel my thoughts on the subject I want to write about. Typically I choose short forms, like the Haiku. I also particularly like the sonnet.
This is titled "sonnet" but isn't a classical sonnet. It just has 14 lines and is broken up like a sonnet. It's an experimental form, inspired by one of my favorite modern poets- Seamus Heaney.
Sonnet
In the chilly margins of distance
All the fonts I write are quiet.
I pour through angst and patience
As I cycle them like the days.
In solitude
Indulgence
Is twelve sad stories
And their sweet dilemmas' end.
The Sonnet,
Where last time I found true solace;
Where I learned
Love is suspense;
Where the last line is harmonics
Of passion's dissonance.
Good art to me is something that makes me want to do it too. This sonnet makes me want to write one in response haha. Well done friend
!
