Ballad of the seeker
Some may say
we're just a moment away
from being here now,
when we're sincere somehow,
just playing for time
until the sun starts to shine.
It's like finding out now
in this moment somehow
for the rest of your life
like a husband and wife
that you have de javu
as your permanent view
when you've seen every movie
and no song is new
or like living the same day,
just with different clouds
or like everyone saying
the silent part out loud.
But don't worry, the window
will open in time
we'll step out for a moment
and back in with a rhyme
we'll dive deeper
there's still so much further to go
for the more that you learn means
the less that you know

Whenever Mercury makes its transit with the sun, which happens about six times a year, in three pairs of two, I like to allow the mercurial spirit to inspire a poem of original creation. This time we have now a quadruple conjunction of sun, moon, mercury and uranus, all within an eight degree orb of each other. This is very rare. The moon will pass out of the alignment in the coming day, leaving the remaining planets to be aligned with the sun for a few days more as the sun passes them by.
The planet mercury is now fast approaching the direct transit of the sun, which will occur in the next four days roughly. Already it is combust, or under the beams of the sun, meaning it can't be seen by telescope due to the brightness of the sun's rays. Thus it is invisible for a week or more.
This time, since mercury is moving forward or direct motion, it will pass behind the sun from our point of view on earth. When it goes retrograde, as it does about three times a year, it will then pass back in front of the sun between us and the sun. That's coming soon.
For now though, over the next few days, mercury will be conjunct the sun and so this poem is here as part of an old tradition which I have been keeping on and off over the past several years.
Today's poem is pure free association or stream of consciousness, with fragments of insights I've observed in my life at this stage. The mind will wither away, especially the memory with age, so I write these poems to remind myself and as something to return to, like a diary of the journey.
