Nonsense, as Inspired by Wood

in #poetry6 years ago

IMG_5963.JPG

Wood-laden hornets swarmed the decks
Through beseeched humors around the door
Blowing circuses in frothy peppermint

They writhed drowning in simple lore.

In tired moments I sang its praises
And flowery bonnets timed their plants
Blindly tracing fluorescent snakes
And buying cloaks in tortured rants.

Fortune smiled through whispered cries
Predicting nine tremors, all artfully claimed
I wandered blindly on floating billboards
The portended memories in turquoise stained.

In a brief moment, you captured the exact feeling of the Mojave. I enjoyed this poem. I'm delivery today's prompt: https://steemit.com/freewrite/@mariannewest/day-245-5-minute-freewrite-thursday-prompt-prototype

This post is what brought me to your blog - the image and the title, via AutoSteem. Interesting poem because of the word choices. If you were aiming a heavily alliterative effect, my opinion is you achieved it.

Thank you! My goal was to choose words for their sound and rhythm and not their meaning. I kind of tapped it out on my desk and chose words that sounded “right.” It was something that I hadn’t really done before. I’m usually not one to try to rhyme. I love the classic “nonsense poems” (like Jabberwocky, which was one of my favorite poems as a kid). It was actually for @freewritehouse, so it was done in less than five minutes.

Anyway, thank you for reading!

Love it, love it all. The photo reminds me of some post apocalyptic shack out of Mad Max. And the poem is unreal, your choice of words is as hilarious as it is creative. It would take some major drug indulgence for me to be that eloquent and I wouldn't;t even come close. You're such a natural when it comes to writing and I admire your unorthodox approach. Clearly your calling.

The photo makes me feel so warm and somehow empty. Great words.

Very Lewis Carrol, in a way—love it!
