RE: At the end of Words

in #poetry6 years ago

Nostalgic poem, @johnjgeddes, in which landscape and feelings come together. There are moments in which a balance is made of the things that have been done, of the relationships and the balance is negative. In this case we see how the lyrical voice searches in its maritime and rainy environment for the remains of a relationship that has ended, but continues like a wave, wetting the shores, crashing against the stones, echoing in the air. It is not the grey of the afternoon that predominates in these verses, but the darkness, the feeling of sadness that nests in the words and in the heart of the poet. Nice night for you.

Thanks, Nancy. I like to refer to the soul as the interior landscape, or inscape and that's where all poetry takes place. The outside world is the objective correlative and provides the symbols and metaphors to body forth these truths - waves, rain and mist...the sad two-tone dirge of the foghorn and the feeling of abandonment in a drizzly lane. Nice night to you too :)
