Turn Around Dark Eyes

in #poetry7 years ago (edited)

Below is a poem I wrote awhile back. For some reason, this has always been a special one to me. My word play was in full force here. It's sad to think it's been nearly four years since I last wrote a poem. I think I need to change that. I think... err... I will write a poem in the very near future. Perhaps, I should set a reasonable date. One month from now. August 5th, 2017.

Turnaround

It didn't turn out right
Came from left field
And don't turn this on me
Well I guess it is my turn
I'll take this one
Take two
But where do I take it?
I know
I'll make it into something new
Is that what you'd do?
I never know what's in your head
It's always silence when lying in your bed
Would you lie to me in bed?
I'll keep quiet now
My words felt so empty is what you said
I'm sorry you had to feel the way you felt
Maybe it just needed to be spelled out for me
But now I see
But it wasn't all me
Someone had to pierce this dead air
Nothing was moving
Nothing in motion
Could I move you?
Could you show some emotion?
This air that we share is bleak
How could anyone breathe?
This will take some time
And compromise from both sides
I'll take the first step
Since we deserve a second chance
So I stare at your distant eyes
And with mine
Ask them to dance.
