Actually, the butterfly is there as a rhythm place holder.
I have been experimenting with unique ways to visually guide the reader through the rhythm of my words. I want to make sure the tempo and timing is felt almost musically- since I really like the way a messages sinks in when composed like a song or a rap. I guess I am more of a lyricist than a poet. Hmm. Anyway the butterfly is meant to show the half way point beteeen parts of the rhythm. I don’t know the technical word for this.
Interesting...thank you for humoring my curiosity. I'm definitely not a poet, but I have been known to read a poem or two. Haven't seen emoticons to be used in poems before so I wasn't sure how to read it. I guess that makes you a pioneer breaking new ground in poetry.

I think the new generation coming up through school now thinks in emoji sometimes... I don't quite get it myself, but you are probably ahead of the curve. I don't know if it's a good or bad thing, but I'm trying hard not to be that old guy who can't accept change anymore.
