Rhyme and Read:1984 by George Orwell

In a world of tyranny and fear,
Where history's erased, and truth's unclear,
Winston Smith seeks to find his way,
To break the chains and seize the day.

But Big Brother's eyes are always near,
Watching, waiting, to instill fear.
The thought police are on his trail,
And freedom seems beyond the pale.

The past is altered, the present controlled,
Reality itself is bought and sold.
Doublethink is the new truth,
And dissenters are crushed underfoot.

But through the darkness, a glimmer of hope,
A spark of rebellion, a way to cope.
For Winston knows that within his mind,
Lies the power to leave the past behind.

So let us learn from his brave fight,
And strive for truth, with all our might.
For though, the world may seem unkind,
Our minds can break the chains that bind.

Welcome to "Rhyme and Read" a collection of book summaries in verse. In this series, we'll explore some of the greatest works of literature through the art of poetry. Each poem is a summary of a famous book, condensed into a few stanzas of rhyme and meter. This time I created a poem inspired by the book 1984 and I invite everyone to read that book and to think about the verses:

For though, the world may seem unkind, Our minds can break the chains that bind.
