Our Humanity

I strive to move more purposely,
shaken up by the sights that I see,
by the reality of this world.
At first glance, I stand tall,
but looks, can be deceiving,
it is hard not to fall on your knees,
to beg for mercy, as the world bleeds.
Each day, I feel the heaviness,
the weight of our complacency,
burying us, as we continue to lie to ourselves,
to try and disconnect from what it means to be human.
Betrayed, manipulated,
we fumble, into the darkest, corners of our minds,
falling into despair,
as everything around us falls into disarray.
For we have lost our way, herded amongst the masses,
isolated from the beauty of connection,
but as we stagger, our collective grief, brings us together.
And as everything else falls away, finally our humanity,
is laid bare.

It hurts too much sometimes,
to bare witness to the events of this world,
to the cruelty,
the injustice,
the horror that continues to unfold.

That's a marvelous, and very apt poem to describe the insanity. Thank you for sharing, @trucklife-family! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

Doesn't it? But still, somehow, we go on. Occasionally helped by beautiful treasures like this poem. <3
Edit: Stumbled upon this after reading your poem. Thought of you.
