Hello Dave.
I follow you but I have to take issue with your analysis of the camo segment of this video. You claim that 93 mil. Is an incredulous amount to spend on BDUs in Afghanistan for their soldiers. Of the "2%" of area that is not desert, would be covered in green where those poppys grow and thrive.
It is a major contributor of their GDP as it is one of the main countries that supply the opiates used for the pain management that is used across the globe.
Would it be prudent to supply the Afghanis to wear desert BDUs while protecting these fields? You also make it sound as 93 mil is an absurd amount over the course of 10 years. The service life of a single set of BDUs is less than 3 months in conflict conditions. Retail of these BDUs back in the 90's when I was in Desert Storm, was $50 a set. Then there are coats, boots, socks, gloves, hats, undergarments you should be looking at $300. We're sleeping bags included? Rucks? Scarves? Kevlar helmets? A Kevlar helmet is about 1k each, what about goggles? So 4-5 sets per year for serviceable uniforms per soldier, per year would probably be appropriate. Over the course of 10 years for who knows how many soldiers that really doesn't seem like an overreach or waste of military funding. I am no logistics guy, I was an Army medic, but knowing how our military spends, it's really not the conspiracy you're making it out to be.
I like listening to you and your show, but this segment of the video appears to be uninformed and not well thought out.
Be Well.
Chris
