Have not posted on my blog in a while,is because,i am still taking lessons on steemit on how to make good and quality post.

Today, I want to briefly talk about Managing a Project:

What is a Project?
A project is a group of interrelated work activities defined by a scope, budget and schedule to deliver assets needed to achieve strategic goals.
Projects are temporary engagement that has its scope completely defined like the resources and its schedule.

Project must have a beginning and a definite end time, this provides an avenue to check and monitor progress and to focus on the important things toward achieving the goal.

Everyone has a Project. Once you are engage in activities to achieve a goal it is called a project.

Project Manager.
Who is a Project Manager?
A project manager is the person who is in charge of that project. Someone who plays a major role in decision making regarding the success of that project.
The project manager's task is to plan and control the project. He is assigned by the executive management or board (agency) and he must have adequate authority to exercise the responsibility of creating and managing a team for support of the project. It is often important for a project manager to have experience in similar projects in the past.

The work of the project manager is very important in every organization and especially in a construction industry. The project manager may also be tasked with managing several other projects which may require assignment of additional project managers for support and in this case, the supervising project manager is known as program manager.

Now, if you are wondering why I am writing about project management, this is because I am currently working as an intern in a construction company that is majorly in the construction and mentainance of oil wells.

Oil Well Control:

One of the project am currently undergoing training for as an intern is Oil Well Control.

Let me briefly give you an insight to what oil well control is about.

It entails the management of the hazardous effect the release of the crude oil fluid and natural gas upon the drilling equipments. Some of the mineral in form of fluid/gas, escape to the atmosphere,which tends to be dangerous to living things health-wise, if not well manage and controlled.
Oil well control also includes;
Monitoring wells for any impending influx of fluid formation. This is to prevent over flow of wells.

Caution:

If wells are not properly monitored, an over pressured influx of formation fluid could lead to serious equipment damage that could result to severe injury or loss of life.

So you can also see that project management involves safety. I am also improving my safety techniques as well as managerial skill. It is a whole lot, but I am enjoying and learning fast.
