💪 Raise Your Personal Standards 💪

Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced every day.

-Jim Rohn

I ask you

What is most important trait when it comes to success?

Here's my story:

My first and the second year on college weren't great. I used to get almost all D' and C', but guess what? I was perfectly satisfied with that. I was satisfied with bad grades because I set low standards for myself, therefore my academic progress suffered a lot. I remember when i got drunk because i passed chemistry with D on my first year. It was such an amazin accomplishment for me. Another shit is not around my neck anymore. It feelt amazing. With bad grades like that, at least here in Croatia, you can forget about getting job. And even if i was satisified with things going on, I knew that i needed to get more successfully for existienional purposes. Some changes needed to be made.

How i was thinking I will make that change

I decided to raise my personal standards. By being an extremist by nature, I decided to set my standards SKY HIGH. I made it clear with myself that:

"I WILL NOT accept anying below A"

How to implement new standard and then start to acting according to it?

The method I used here for implementation of the new standard were subliminal messages. First, I wrote my new standard on many letters and put it all around my house so I constantly get reminded of it. That was one part. In part two i puted one big paper with big letters on wall near my bed that stated "I'm a good student and i can't get anything less than A". Then i setted alarm to wake me up in middle of the night so i can read that paper in a moment after waking from deep sleep. I also holded flashlight in my hand and turning off and on while rading. According to some studies, this is best way to get sublimininal message deep into you subconciness mind. It worked perfectly for me. That new sky high standard quickly became part of my subconciness and my mindset started to change dramatacially.

Guess what happened next? A BIG CHANGE

I stayed by my new standard and followed it with actions in my everyday life. Suddenly, I find myself learning almost everyday for few hours and attending classes daily. It wasn't easy and it required concistency but i did it. Sometimes i get a lower grade than A on exam. But i didn't give up. All the time I was giving the effort to improve grades and I always found a way to do it. I keept that standard whole college until now (2 more years left). With that new-found discipline and motivation, things that I never even think was possible started to happening right in front my eyes. My mom doesn't believe me until I showed her a phyisical paper. I was showing her my grades on the internet but she thought it was a scam and that I was lying to her. I didn't blame her for that because that change was so drastic. It is even more drastic if you consider fact that i barely got to college because of bad high school grades.

The point here is - everything is possible if you changed that personal standards of yours for better. After that, you will never even thought about going below my standard and that's what will change your life. Higher standards quickly stared to pay offs - my overall life improved greatly, my self-confidence increased, I got a work ethic. It all lead many connection with professors who included me in their projects. And now I'm sure I will get a job.
It is really incredible if you consider how small thing can lead to big changes.

Let's make it short: If you set high standards for yourself you will overcome any challanges on the way of fullifing your dream.
The big difference between a person who succeeded and those who don't is the mindset. Mindset is that small thing that makes a huge impact on our lives. With changing your personal standards you directly chaning your mindset.

"Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything."

-George Bernard Shawn

CONCLUSION

People with the a low personal standards are willing to accept bad or mediocre things more easily. The problem with the low standard is turning off your will to fight for better because you become satisfied with less. You find it acceptable and normal and YOU WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT TO CHANGE IT.

Psychology behind this is simple - if you set your standard higher you will aim higher in your personal and professional life. More importantly, you are willing to make changes if things aren't going well. Your higher standards dosen't let you accept anything less so you will give effort to achive it. You will get that positive push towards making yourself more successful.

For the end - don't forget self confidence

Self-confidence is the crucial thing that is needed for success - you simply must believe in yourself.
You must have your heart and your mind fully convinced that you can do something.
