Greetings, Steemians and Steemettes!

Dawn of a new day. It really shows that I am living a working life again because Sundays make me feel melancholic about the upcoming Monday again. But alas, that is just a part of life as well. Let us continute to read on this murderous case.

Chapter 5

Don't let that great price tag fool you, I grabbed the book for free out of a book case. That thumb belongs to me, don't take it away!

Picture taken with my crappy smartphone.

After having her fun conversation with Dennis Farman, Anne Leone needed to leave the hospital. The assault on her one year ago left its marks, emotionally speaking. She suffers from post-traumatic stress and has vivid memories of the occurrence. The assaulter choked her fiercly, punched and kicked her when she was lying on the floor, breaking some rips and collapsing lungs. Clearly, she can be glad to have survived all that. Otherwise, she would not have been able to struggle with her emotions now.

Luckily for her, Vince Leone, being the perfect husband he is, shows up, just in time to comfort her. We see a bit about their relationship. Anne is at ease once he shows his face and raises her voice, feeling comfortable again. Vince gives off some sweet sounding charming words and everything seems good. They shortly discuss that Anne really does not need to look after Dennis. Right after that, they talk about Vince' murder case regarding Marissa. Anne actually recognized her name because she created posters for a charitable event she took part in.

On this dark note, we leave these two lovebirds for themselves.

Chapter 6

We are back at the crime scene together with Mendez. We learn that the struggle between Marissa and the killer started in the bedroom. There is a lot of chaos that indicates at fighting. This ended up in the killer starting to viciously step Marissa. Blood splatters on the bed sheets and the ceiling indicate this. The blood stains then seem to lead outside of the bed room. Marissa must have mustered her last bits of strength for that.

It could also mean that someone else came in looking for something after the murderer committed his crime. This part here is my own theory, it hasn't been hinted at in the book.

One thing of note here is that the drawers and clothes in the bed room have been thrown around wildly, with many clean pieces being thrown on bloody parts. This indicates that the murderer did return after he washed himself and was looking for something. It is unclear whether he found it or not.

On the plus side of thngs, Haley is still alive and being treated in the hospital, so that's good!

Shortly after, a woman shows up on at the crime scene. More characters being introduced, nice! The new woman is called Sara Morgan. She came to the crime scene because she had an appointment with Marissa. Apparently, Marissa was teaching Sara Morgan in art. Painting on silk was supposed to be the topic of the day. Learning about Marissas death shook Sara Morgan to tears.

Notice that this crime has happened one year ago. The same is true for the assault and attempted murder on Anne Leone. Clearly, there is a connection here.

Mendez actually knows Sara Morgan from one of his previous cases. One of Sara Morgans daughters, a girl called Wendy, found another murder victim one year earlier. The name of the victim from back then is Lisa Warwick.

There is also a hint at Sara Morgans daughter Wendy has some kind of connection to both Dennis Farman as well as Tommy Crane. Remember that assault on Anne? Tommy Cranes father did it. We also learn that his mother took him and left the area without anyone knowing where they went. Understandably so, given their circumstances.

Because Mendez did not find it himself, he asked Sara about where Marissas art studio is located. Reluctantly, Sara shows it to him. It is in a barn. While going there, Mendez notices that Saras hands are patched up with Smurf-band-aids. Upon being asked, she replies that she is apparently working on another piece that involves some metalwork and wiring.

Suffering for your art, eh?

Talking about art, when Sara and Mendez reach the Art-Barn, they find out that every piece left behind by Marissa has been ripped to shreds!

With Sara in disbelief, Mendez leaves us with the words that this is now a crime scene as well.

That was a lot to take into.

Chapters really do not have a constant length and the amount of information found in them highly differs, as you can see.

The most interesting things from todays chapters is that the main players now seem to know that the main suspect is Haleys father. Meanwhile, I am much more interested in the events that occurred one year ago and, possibly, in the meantime up until now.

But we will get more hints on both of these tomorrow, so stay tuned!
