RE: Reddit

in #reddit11 months ago

On the last point about Twitter charging and others like Reddit potentially following suit, we can look at paid TV models which would have been scoffed at initially, but now many pay additional subs to Netflix, Disney, Amazon and others. Could the same happen with some social applications?? It's very possible, especially given how addicted some are to Instagram, Tictok, What'sApp etc .. Personally I won't pay for those, but many others would. I pay extra for Spotify and Netflix and draw the line there.

The rest of the post raises very legimate concerns about Reddit governance and it sounds like it is ripe for and rife with abuse of power. As you say, we are lucky that the immutable nature of our Hive ecosystem gives the necessary transparency for genuine trust.

Also, how does one become a curator for @ocd out of curiosity? Thanks.

Yeah subscriptions everywhere, and the masses will just follow along as long as they get a sticker or whatever...

We usually do posts asking for applicants to apply, then vet them, etc, but there hasn't been a need for more curators lately due to the markets and lower activity than usual (although not much). Currently we are mostly looking for onboarders. Any specific genre's you were looking to focus curation on?

Ha ha, ya that's it, isn't it.. The sheeple will want to follow the celebs and influencers..

As regards curation, I guess music, sports and family would be my passions, so they would be sensible things to curate, but if you have enough curators already, that's cool, I was just wondering. If that changes down the line I'd be happy to help though and thanks for the info 👌

Hmm I'd say look out for some of my posts, we may be looking for more curators in the near future, especially if onboarding picks up we'd have more authors to curate. We just had some "spring" cleaning and removed quite a few inactive curators and it still seems like we have more than enough. 😅

Ok that's spot on, I'll keep an eye out for any posts relating to curation so, Nice one 👌
