Elijah Mawli

Elijah Mawli, born Robert Aljoe-Al-Jahbar Henry to parents Vivvene Young and Robert Henry. This recording artist grew up in the green hills of St.Andrew Jamaica hailing from a small community called Happy-grove. He attended St. Richards Primary and later on Calabar High. Elijah has a natural talent for writing. He developed a passion for writing songs as a youngster and then, later on, he began singing them at age 18. In spite of the fact that he has been singing his entire life (covering various songs of other artists), his musical journey as a recording artist began after he left high school and during college. With his Raspy vocals, vibrant character and smooth guitar skills, he has been signed to Eastsyde Records, featured on Twins of Twins Stir it volume 11 and has recently released his first single "Caribbean Love" along with an official music video to complement it. .

Elijah prefers not to genre his music or to make it particular because his musical influences cover a wide range from Reggae, Dancehall, Calypso, Folk, Country, Pop, Rock, to Jazz & blues just to name a few. This artist is one that approaches music with an open mind he often says " an empty cup has room for possibilities".

Elijah is currently busy in the studio working on his EP, a collection of five songs set to be released soon. If you should sit with this artist you'll understand that he truly is unique. His perception of life around him grabs and brings people to wonder, coming off as an enigma he often at times leaves a listener refreshed. He has the ability to see art within all things, situations and the mind's eye to understand that there is always an inspiration to be found hence a story to be told. Those around him would say that he shares an unusual bond with his guitar (which he named "Oh Sweet Melody of Jah") because he will be seen with it wherever he goes, more always than often. Elijah jokes all the time that he is Adam, his guitar is Eve and that the instrument emblems his musical Genesis. I for one live by one of his quotes,

"To dream is to Journey to the Fountain of youth, life's pinnacle."

His kind of music and art is everlasting so may it be treasured now and in future generations to come. Here you can watch the official video for his first single "Caribbean love".
