There were a couple of really good Commodore 64 magazines in the U.S. but none that were dedicated exclusively to gaming. By 1991, RUN was the last major Commodore 64 print magazine being published in the U.S. and there was no issue published in June. Game publication in the U.S. on the Commodore 64 and pretty much stopped in the U.S. by this point. If you were lucky, you might still find a game or two on clearance at some place like Toys R Us. On the other hand, things were still going pretty strong in the U.K. and would continue to do so for another couple of years. The June 1991 issue of Zzap! 64 includes:

Rebel Regulars

• Stuff - Coverage of the European Computer Trade Show including a look of some forthcoming arcade conversions and other games for the Commodore 64 including Atari's Hydra, RBI, Terminator 2, Solar Jetman and more. Incidentally, Solar Jetman was completed but never released on the Commodore 64 but was apparently rediscovered and is available on the interwebs. I'll have to track this down and try it. I loved it on the NES.


• Megatape Info - The cover tape this month includes Iridis alpha, level one of Spellcast, Shotaway, and more.


• Rrap - Letters from readers about Megatape issues, reset buttons, adventure games, Turrican 2, football, cartridge games, and much more.
