Roadtrip Andalusia

in #roadtrip6 years ago

Last year in September, I made a road trip through Andalusia with my girlfriend. At the beginning we flew to Malaga, where we had our accommodation during our entire trip.

The first two days we explored Málaga and I have to admit that this city quickly captivates you. The first evening we visited the Alcazaba of Málaga, a Moorish fortress from the 11th century. This fortress is located on a hill and offers a magnificent view over Malaga and is especially recommended at sunset. Malaga offers a beautiful city center and the birthplace of Pablo Picasso is well worth a visit.
For those who want to relax in Malaga, there is the beautiful city beach "la Malagueta".

On the third day we drove to Gibtraltar. After a two-hour drive along the Costa del Sol, we finally reached Gibraltar.
We parked in Spain and then had to cross the border crossing, as Gibraltar is officially British. An additional fun factor is that you have to cross the airport to get into the city.
Having arrived in the city you immediately feel like you are in the UK. Red telephone booths and left-hand traffic are just a few examples of this culture.

Another highlight was the climb of the Rock of Gibraltar. The climb took about 2 hours and you had the opportunity to get inside the rock and feed monkeys. All in all, the trip to Gibraltar was very worthwhile.

The next day we made our way to Granada. The aim of this trip was to visit the ancient castle Alhambra. The visit of this castle was really fascinating and it took us almost three hours to visit the whole area including the incredible garden. Then we explored the city of Granada, which I think is one of the most beautiful cities in Spain.

Afterwards we spent two more relaxing days in Malaga, before we started our journey back to cool Austria. This road trip was one of the best holidays I have ever experienced and I recommend it to everyone!
