One day the Philistine leaders gather in the temple of Dagon, one of their most important deities, to thank him for the capture of Samson. They take Samson with them to entertain the crowd. The temple is so crowded that people even go up on the roof to watch. The highest persons of Philistia are also in the temple and the people number about 3,000 in all. When Samson enters the temple, he asks his guides to let him rest by one of the temple pillars. He prays to God for strength and miraculously receives it. Samson then destroys the pillars of the temple and kills all the Philistines in the temple and himself.
After he dies, Samson's family removes his body from the ruins and buries it near the grave of his father Manoah. At the end of Chapter 16 of the Book of Judges, it is revealed that Samson had judged Israel for 20 years.10 Delilah's fate remains unclear.
