In past few years, Samsung has been on a roll to bring forth the innovation in its smartphones. From edge screens to almost bezel-less display to premium metal and glass body. It made stylus phone cool again with its successful note series. And now, the Samsung wants the title of being the first company to introduce the foldable phones to the market.

Samsung’s Galaxy X to be the First Foldable Smartphone

The Samsung Company has been working on the concept of a foldable phone for quite some time. It first showcased the concept of foldable at the Consumer Electronic Show CES 2013. While the prototype was shown at CES 2014.

Finally, after all the wait, now this technology doesn’t seem like a myth. As the South Korean Company has filed patents which hint towards some of its features. Therefore, confirming that the phone has the ability to fold without causing any permanent damage to the components. It is said to have an artificial muscle filing part, which moves in sync with the screen. Hence, it doesn’t cause any permanent damage and allows temporary shape change

Unique Design of the Galaxy X

The phone’s final tentative design shows that it has three display panels, which are constructed using OLED. There is an outer display that is 4.5 inches. Whereas, the inner two displays together make up 7.3 inches when unfolded.

The Tentative Release Date and the Price

All the rumors suggest towards the possibility that it might be released towards the end of 2018 or the start of 2019. Furthermore, Park Hyung-woo, an analyst at Shinhan Financial in South Korea, told the Korean Times that the smartphone will launch next year as, “Parts affiliates and first-tier subcontractors will begin supplying parts to Samsung Electronics’ handset division beginning in November, at the earliest, with the company assembling the phone aiming for a launch next year”.

However, good things never come cheap. The suggestive price tag shows that it will start at $1850 making it the most expensive smartphone currently in the market.However, all of these are tentative information, so do keep it in mind that nothing is confirmed.
