The Bible is the book that contains the powerful and sacred word of God. The Word of God is the only conclusive source of wisdom, knowledge and understanding of the fundamental realities that hope to free and enrich those who seek their treasures.

Because the Bible is a wonderful and relevant book, it is necessary: Read it! Study it! Learn it!

2 Timothy 2:15 King James Version (NIV)

15 Diligently try to introduce yourself to God approved, as a worker who has nothing to be ashamed of, who uses the word of truth well.

The Bible, the inspired Word of God, is the only definitive source of wisdom, knowledge and understanding of the supreme truths. It is the very source of the truth that liberates (Jn 8:32) and a gold mine of practical principles (Psalm 19:10), always ready to release and enrich the person who seeks his truth and wealth. That is why, over the centuries, serious Christians have taken Paul's recommendation that we be diligent workers as an exhortation to study the Word of God. The only way to live a healthy and balanced life is to use God's Word well. The correct application of the Word of God is the result of studying it diligently. The read biblical text urges us to go beyond addressing the Bible informally, and refrain from accommodating it at our convenience or ideology.

Earlier (1 Timothy 4:13) Paul had told Timothy: "Take care of the reading (of the Word of God)," but here he emphasizes that I study him as a "worker."

Psalm 119: 11 exhorts us to learn the Word of God as a powerful brake on sin.

Learning verses from the Bible means that we have at our disposal "words" of God as swords, ready to talk about Christ and very effective in the spiritual battle.
