Blessings to the whole community!
As Christians we must recognize that sincere, powerful, spontaneous and audible praise will bring the presence of Jesus away from the desire to identify with sinful actions or thoughts.
Psalm 7: 14-17 expresses:
14 Behold, with evil he suffers pain, conceives iniquity and gives birth to deceit. 15 He dug a well and deepened it, and fell into the well he made. 16 His iniquity will return upon his head, and his violence will descend upon his crown. 17 I will give thanks to the LORD according to his justice, and will sing praises to the name of the LORD, the Most High.
This brief passage contains two truths about praise. First, praise is the answer when evil and wickedness confront the believer. The temptation to sin and live sinfully will disappear before the sincere, powerful and audible praise. This will bring the glorious presence of Jesus and at the same time eliminate the desire to identify with some sinful act or thought.
Second, in verse 17 the writer declares: "I will praise the Lord." Praise is an act of the will, not a mere verbal expression; A voluntary statement of thanks, a sacrifice or an offering.
Remember this about praise: 1) Do not wait until all conditions and circumstances are favorable, but 2) offer a praise of thanks, because God is worthy and that is right.
You are very right, and I guess this is where we miss out from the blessings that follows those who praise God. You see whenever a Christian chose to praise God only in the good times, it simply depicts that such a person operates on sight rather than faith.
Meanwhile the scripture has clearly stated that without faith, it is impossible to please God.
Hence, restringing to praise God to me, it means you are robbing God of his right.
