What does it mean to spend time alone with God?

Blessings to all friends and brothers in Christ.

My reflection today has to do with the time we spend alone with God and its true meaning.

Perhaps the most definitive factor of spiritual growth is spending time alone with the Lord. This means taking the time to talk to God about what you have in your heart and, most importantly, letting Him speak to you.

God called King David "a man according to my heart" (Acts 13:22).
To earn that mention of honor, David first needed to know the mind and heart of God, which allowed him to do what the Lord wanted. David tried to know God. The Bible says he "consulted" the Lord. He spent time in his presence, singing to Him from the depths of his heart.
In Second Samuel 7:18 we read: "And King David came in and stood before Jehovah, and said: Lord Jehovah, who am I and what is my house, that you may have brought me here?

What did it mean for David to sit before the Lord? It was his way of spending time alone in the presence of God, communicating with the Lord from the depths of his heart, asking him questions and silently listening to divine answers.

Jesus often sought to be alone with his heavenly Father. The time he spent with the Father comforted him and renewed his strength. Jesus also spent time alone with his disciples, to teach them to get their own spiritual refreshment in the same way (Luke 9: 17-24).

We are wise if we choose to spend time alone with God, in a place where there are no distractions or interruptions, for a sufficient period that allows us to relax completely and focus our attention completely on the Lord and His Word. We must be willing to wait in the presence of the Lord until we receive his instructions or his words of comfort and encouragement.

Why don't many of us want to spend time alone with God?
The main reason is that we don't feel safe in our relationship with God and that leads us to be afraid of him.

But those who have experienced the new spiritual birth have a relationship with the Lord like that of a father with a son. Our heavenly Father loves us unconditionally and treats us with all tenderness and patience. The more we learn as it really is, the more we will long to spend time alone with Him, and the more we will know the fullness of his grace.

@mamidalia, if man recognized the need he has to devote time of his life to speak with God really the lives of many people were transformed and even the people of God ignore this reality that is essential and vital to obtain the promises and blessings that God has for us, then, if there is no communion with God there is no relationship and that is spiritual death for the Christian.

"....non fellowship with God is spiritual death for the Christian"
This ends the discussion!!

Spending time communicating with God is necessity in the kingdom of God! But many a Christian seldom do this because , even as God love them, they don't trust God to deliver His promises !! This among other reasons is attributable to the poor communication between God and His people in Christianity.
