Oh dear, first of all i hope you recover soon!! Having to cast on your hand is really unconfortable and inconvenient for daily activities. Not being able to wash that region in summer time is just very troublesome, the swear and oil secretion makes it irritating not to be cleaned!! I do agree 3D print can provide and interesting position for medicinal use just like you mention in casting, or in more advance technology like printing the matrix for cartilage or cells to grow, may provide a future tool for organ transplant!!
