This is not good for HAM operators and Emergency personnel, especially in the wake of hurricane IRMA making landfall in Florida. The arrival of this CME is likely to cause "radio blackouts" and it also has the potential to cause problems with our electrical grid.

Fill up the Faraday cage.
That would be a big Faraday Cage! You would need enough room for the generator as well as every single electronic device or appliance you wanted to power (to be absolutely safe). I'm not worried about it ALL that much, but it never hurts to be prepared (at least mentally).
Not necessarily, I've seen people covering them with metal mesh. I know there are some pitfalls to using mesh but I think they can be avoided by using mesh that has small holes and possibly thicker gauge wire. I am fortunate that I don't own a lot of electronics that require protection. And as you state, I feel somewhat prepared mentally. Stay prepared and have a good evening.
You're probably right, some (even just mesh) protection would be better than none. I think if we ever see a X20+ AND it's earth directed, I would actually be a bit worried. Hopefully this one does no harm. Thanks, you as well.
Is the X class the largest magnitude flare. I seem to remember that a few years bask they got a flare that was larger than any classification they had so they had to make a new classification. Have you ever heard of Ed Dames (or maybe it's Danes), he has a moniker of Doctor Doom. He's into remote viewing and he made a prediction a few years back about a kill shot.
Yes the X class is the largest. I haven't heard of Ed Dames, but it wouldn't surprise me if we do have another carrington event (kill shot) in the future. Hopefully FAR into the future, cause right now, no one is really prepared for it. As far as remote viewing, I think it's pretty interesting stuff and totally plausible. It reminds me of Edgar Cayce, but fortunately NOT everything he has predicted, has come true.

Yeah, I think I read the last time we experienced a Carrington Event was when there was telegraph lines and a lot of them got fried. I am on the fence regarding remote viewing. I haven't tried it but I heard people who have says it's fairly simple. I'm not sure how to create a target. I listen to this radio show called 'Midnight In The Desert' and they did an experiment with remote viewing. You were suppose to use her studio as the target and draw a picture of it. I tried but I got no mental image so no picture. Maybe my mental is not working. On Edgar Cayce (Sleeping Prophet) I did quite a bit of research on him and a lot he predicted came true but I never read anything about his batting average so you're probably right.
