Mirror neurons

in #science6 years ago (edited)

Recently I wrote an article on yawning.. In it, I mentioned a thing like mirror neurons. Details you can find here. Now tell me, why are we empathize? Do you think that there is such a feeling in a person? And thanks to what do we have it? Answer: thanks to mirror neurons. Look at your grandparents. Did you ever think that they are similar? I think yes. This is because during their cohabitation they "mirrored" each other's expression. The thing that made them do this is the same neurons that make you feel empathy.

How it was discovered?

How did people come up with the fact that mirror neurons are responsible for all these ordinary things? It is believed that the first experiment, showing their mechanism well, was conducted in 1990 in Italy. Its essence was that the monkeys (well, who else?) Put electrodes that track individual neurons in the brain. Monkeys gave a little peanuts. She gladly ate it. In the brain, a neuron, responsible for the motility of the mouth, worked. After that, the monkey saw that one of the researchers was eating peanuts. The scientists noticed that at that moment, when she was just looking at him, the same electrode worked. And it was not a mistake. After this case, the scientists began to study this in people. Of course, the result was the same. So the thing was discovered, thanks to which you cry, when you look at "Hatiko".

How it works?

Now let's find out how this works. From the example with the monkey, you might think that the mirror neurons work only during some action. However, it is not. In the beginning, I cited your grandparents as an example. They copied each other's expression involuntarily. So mirror neurons work even when we just think. But, back to the action, as they illustrate much brighter. Remember how scowling and wicked you went to work, but then you saw a smiling one-year-old child and smiled back at him. These are mirror neurons. And now remember how you watched the horrors of the weekend, and the psychopath smiled at you through the screen. If you smile, you have the mirror neurons of the psychopath. But let us return to normal people. You did not smile for no reason that there is something wrong with your neurons, but because this person is completely different from you and you feel dislike towards him. It will be easier for us to empathize with a being that is similar to us. This again confirms the existence of these very mirror neurons. Lord, how many times have I already said this expression ... If you are not lazy, you can write in the comment number.

On this I think it is worth finishing. I did not deliberately delay the article and did not quote huge quotations from scientific documents. It seems to me that the most complex topics need to be explained in the simplest possible way. If you liked it, you can vote and subscribe to me on social networks. I'll leave a link on them below. There I am announcing future articles about the day before the release. Good luck!
