With the data we have of possible liquid water on the surface of Mars and the more than likely atmosphere in the past.
Could Mars have been totally or partially reached by a gamma-ray burst of some dying star at some point in the past?
It is a question that I ask myself, since theoretically a gamma ray explosion could destroy an atmosphere.

It is a quite interesting idea however I didn't ready any article related to this topic like destruction in the past anyway it might be because we can vaguely remember the past 2 millenies anyway :D
