In my late teens to early twenties I did a lot of online dating.
It had become a pretty popular place to meet new people and go on blind dates. I had been on at least 25 blind dates from numerous dating websites. I met a lot of weirdos and guys just wanting to hook up and bounce but had never really met a sincere guy who looked at me like I was beautiful and worth something.

At age 21 I went to delete all of my online dating accounts because I was fed up with all the creeps and disrespectful bastards. I had deleted all of them and got to my last dating site. I saw I picture of a guy right next to the cancel account button.
Written next to his picture was “someone you may like”.
Of course, they're trying to tempt me into looking at someone's profile instead of deleting my account. What did I do? I freaking looked at his page and I just saw a simple dude who was totally my type! Kind eyes, big build, great kind smile and just perfect.
I couldn't delete my account now!! I had to write this guy!
We talked for about 6 months before we met, which never had happened before. We were both very cautious for our own reasons. When we met I will admit it was a bit awkward, but I was comfortable. He looked at me constantly like he actually thought I was beautiful. We actually met at my work right after my shift right outside the mall. We sat on the park bench in front of the mall for hours just talking and laughing.
We had this crazy connection and I was smitten!
After that night I heard from him a couple times then he slowly drifted away. He dodged all my calls and texts. I was devastated.. Occasionally, he would call me when he was drinking and that would piss me off because I could never have a heart to heart conversation about why he was so distant and not wanting to talk to me.
After a whole 5 months of me dating someone else (Tom) and the occasional drunk calls from him(Mike) I finally decided to break up with my boyfriend because he wasn't who I wanted. I wanted Mike.

A couple months after that I had talked Mike into meeting up again. Apparently the guy had a change of heart and I wasn't about to give up on him. We went on a couple dates and I seemed to like him even more! We were starting to have sleep overs and really get along! Then I started seeing that this guy is too nice, like what's up with that?! Is this friend material..?
I then told him that I just wanted to be friends and that everything was getting a little too serious too fast for me. I basically became a huge tease for some reason. I would sleep over still but wouldn't kiss or anything. When I was away at home we were still texting constantly and I don't know what it was but the guy was just too frikkin nice to me!
One day I woke up and greeted him with a cute text saying good morning and he never messaged me back. Which was weird because he always did... I didn't get a message all day. I knew something was up. Still nothing the next day... I was so confused.
This is where things get crazy!!!!
I was sitting at work trying to text him to get him to text me back. Then I get a call from his phone...I answered it, It wasn't him, It was his mother.
She said, “Hey I have to tell you what's going on with Mike, do you have a minute to talk?”
My heart drops I'm thinking he's dead or dying or in the hospital or something like that.
I walked outside while she continued to tell me that Mike was in JAIL.... Last thing I would've guessed, cause this guy couldn't hurt a soul, not a criminal kind of guy! What?! Why?!
This is Mike's story:
When Mike was 17 years old he worked at a fitness center as a life guard, and there was one week they needed a fill in for a swim teacher so Mike decided to fill in cause the job was better pay. The next thing Mike knows is the police are calling him in for questioning. He has no idea what its all about. He's thinking maybe questions pertaining to something he may have witnessed, so he went in with no defender.
They stated questioning him about a certain girl he was a swim teacher to. Asking if he had ever touched her inappropriately. When he said no they started throwing this in his face and saying that they know he was guilty and he may as well admit it. You now the whole questioning tactic to scare people into admitting to a crime they never committed.
They told him, “You touched her butt didn't you?! You Molested her!”
Mike then said, “I was taught to put one hand under their back and one had under their bum to support their bodies while they're on their backs floating in the water.”
The cop says, “Oh so this isn't the only child you've done this to?”
Right then and there Mike had fucked himself over for life. This girl's father was a cop, so when his little girl had told her dad that Mike had touched her butt he went to the parent of his daughter's friend who also was taught by Mike and had them say the same story. These children were not affected in any way other than their parents feeding them with lies.
The power they had over Mike was not right! They even waited a couple weeks til he was 18 to try him as an adult. So now Mike is a felon that has to register as a sex offender every year, go to court ordered therapy twice a week $140 a week for that, and has been on probation for 10 years now.
When I found out about this guy's story my heart was humbled for him.
This is why the guy is so freaking nice! He has been shit on by the law and is scared!
What guy wants to tell a girl they've been dating that they are a sex offender?!
It's almost better to not have a girlfriend!! Which is why it took him such a long time to get to the point where he would let me in. He liked me so much he didn't want to ruin my life with his life.
This time he was in jail because he had gave up on himself. For a whole year he was “absconding”. Not going to Therapy because he couldn't afford it, because he couldn't get a job, because NO ONE hires felons. Not seeing his Probation Officer because they would arrest him for not going to therapy. The whole time the police never checked his home for him until he decided to file his taxes on a job he had for a little while.
So this was why he was in jail.
When a girl finds this out about a guy they're dating they would normally run away. I ran towards him. I was so astonished that this guy had been so strong to endure such a shit show. He needed help! He needed someone to care about him and get him to crawl out of this hole of depression and I was the one to do it!

Wow such a powerful story. I'm tearing up for this guy. I'm going to share this to some other friends too. Everyone has their own struggles, so it makes me mad when people just immediately assume that someone is more privileged. It's all an illusion. Society has conditioned us to assume that a good looking guy is privileged, but that is an egotistical judgmental perspective. Studies show that money does not buy happiness beyond a middle class income. It's all about the mindset you approach life with. Beautiful plot twist. Glad that this girl followed the whole story rather than jumping to conclusions. Keep up with the good work! It's these types of stories that can spread mutual understanding. I can't wait to see what twists part 2 brings!
But did she jump to conclusions? What will part 2 reveal? Does it have a grisly end to it? What is the truth? We won't know until part 2 is submitted. it's not submitted yet.
Double plot twist would be crazy! Mind = blown
i know!!!! Maybe this is a new art form! Having REAL stories that the world has hidden away, only to be revealed through the Secret Writer! Maybe everyone submitting their secrets must take a vow and promise it is a secret. But actually, a really good story is quite difficult to pull off. That's why most writers suck. If someone was able to pull off a really really good story, then I think they should get rewarded for it. Can you imagine? People would be arguing if its real or not. This could be the next cool and hip way of communicating....THE TRUTH which most of us have never heard from others before.

It just goes to show, how quick people are to judge, and how there's always another perspective that is often closer to the truth. I feel sorry for Mike. :(

i know. I started with nothing too, and was amazed when i could start giving away pennies! it was a glorious feeling. Now i get to give away dollars! @smooth still has the millionaire touch though. I sure would like to do an interview with him. He's kind of a mysterious whale, at least to me.....
That would be great for you to write about the whales and ask them so question and get the users to not feel like they are mythical creatures, but down to earth caring people. You had the chance to see the headquarters. I would love to visit and give them my appreciation. I know it's new, but writing a book about the thought process @dan and @ned went through making everything would be fascinating. Yes @smooth showed up loved your cat with hundreds of dollars and continued on his (not hers I'm pretty sure) way. Some people just wish to make a big difference without needing to say why.

Might well be the best use of photos on here. I'm so glad to see the success you are having. You are another example of a great dolphin/whale (there should be a better list than steemd.com distribution) and eagerly await your book in the mail. I've stopped trying to just tell people on steemit about you. I tell people that aren't even users just so they can see what creative people can do with such a simple format. Like when MySpace allowed all the customizations it started to go downhill. A few features would be nice, but it's nice to read such creative content. I hope their will be more platforms to help talented writers who are new to the system expose their skills

I am looking forward to the next installation. There is a very fine line for individuals who work in a role where touching of others is required. To be a judge or jury in a case of "he said, she said" would be awful.

Thanks for the info @stellabelle. I looked into sharetribe, but it is not steemit.com I was hoping that you would then maybe be the funds holder. Buyer sends you 2/3 Steem dollars. I see it hit your wallet. And i ship out product to buyer. Buyer receives item. He informs you that items arrives, and then you release funds to me. It is pretty simple no risk to you no trust needed and it's just an experiment. It's not really about the money, I just would like to use the steemit blockchain. It would be more fun that way. Anyway, think it over, thanks for even taking the time, I know you must be busy. I do believe this would enhance the community. Thanks again.
