(31.01) Sexual harassment is a crime in Saudi Arabia
One more change in Saudi Arabia Girls get rights to drive on 24th June. Before this, sexual harassment was introduced as a punishable crime in the country.
There was no clear law in Saudi Arabia for so long. Many people have to go back and forth because of the sexual harassment trial. On Monday, the cabinet adviser 'Shura Council' finalized the draft of the Sexual Harassment Act. It is said that the punishment for this crime is up to 5 years in prison and maximum 3 lakh real (540,000 rupees) fine. One of the main objectives of this Act is to provide women protection while driving. Shura member Latifah al-Shalan said, "The vast gap of the law is fulfilled."
But recently 11 women activists were arrested for the right to drive, the boycott was over. The question raised about the sudden prowess of Prince Salman. The Saudi government-backed media identified them as traitors and foreigners.
