RE: Local Coin Shop Find 3/25/2021

Thanks for looking, @beatminister. US Quarter Dollars weigh 6.25 grams: 90% Silver and 10% copper. Actual Silver weight: 0.18064 Troy Ounce. It would take $1.38 - $1.40 to equal one Troy Ounce, Silver.

Well, actually, if a silver quarter costs $6 as you say, a ounce of fine silver costs about $34. I guess you could might as well buy some 2nd hand Maple Leafs or so for the same price. And then you have true .999 silver, which is better to sell than melting scrap silver.
We used to have coins with a silver part, but they are rare today. It was way back in the 60s and earlier and it was D-Mark then, so the government has long taken them out of circulation. If you find some now, they are worth more than just the silver, as collector coins.

I try to stay close to spot price. Quarters were $5 today & mishandled Silver Eagles/Maples/Generics, etc... were $31. BU Eagles $35 and up. What I find interesting is that many of the same Silver coins are the same price:

All these US halves were $10.5 each. I passed on this Walking Liberty. For the same $10.5, each, I did buy these five, today, 2/27/2021:

Thanks for looking and commenting, @beatminister.

Well, I guess for collectors they are too worn off, so its just the silver value. No wonder, since some are more than 100 years old and have been used in daily life.

I got a bunch of these with the dates worn off. Yea just melt value generally. Man U see hive price? It’s crazy 😝

Yes, if they could talk, they could tell some stories... Around 1900 a quarter was a lot of money - you could get a complete breakfast for that.

Sure, I've seen the Hive price, and Steem too. God knows whats going on there... Its been like that for a few weeks now. First the SBD got pumped up to $6, then the Steem, then Hive - and there were big drops as well. I guess some people try to push it up, while there is a bull market for cryptos in gerneral. Whats weird is, that Steem and Hive move in the opposite direction like Tron and Lbry which I also own.
