This 2022 1 oz Silver Montserrat Sea Turtle Coin is a really cool looking piece from the Scottsdale Mint.
Since 2018 the Scottsdale Mint has been producing coins for the EC8(Eastern Caribean 8) encompassing 8 Caribean Island groups in the ECCB (Eastern Caribean Central Bank) who governs currency for these Island Countries. Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent, and the Grenadines.
The 2022 Montserrat Sea Turtle Coin has a nice clean but detailed look to it. I really like this design, it almost has a 3D look with the different textures and looking like the ocean surface on the top.
The obverse side freatures a frosted center with a side view of Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by a laurel wreath. The shiny outer rim is inscribed with EASTERN CARIBBEAN CENTRAL BANK on the top, QUEEN ELIZABETH II on the bottom, .999 SILVER on the left and TWO DOLLARS on the right. This is the standard design for all of the EC8 series coins and was created by Ian Rank-Broadley.
The Reverse features a sea turtle accross the center swimming to the right with another turtle above appearing to be in the distance and 2022 underneath. The decorative outer rim is inscribed with MONTSERRAT.

It is a nice looking Coin... I would have liked it better, if it had a $10 Face Value, instead of a $2 Face Value... One Ounce of Silver with a $2 Face Value, doesn't make sense... It was probably done this way to "Keep Us Confused"... It's been going on for a long time...
Thanks, they don't put the value because of the metal, it is a coin in circulation that was also done in silver and possibly other metals for the collector value.
I have a U.S. quarter that is 5 oz of silver but it still has a face value of $.25, this doesn't mean that it is worth a quarter it still has the metal value and minting value.
Yes... I've seen those 5 ounce Coins with the Small Face Values... I want all that to end in the Very Near Future... We've been victims of phony numbers, to keep us confused... We need Stable Weights and Face Value Measurements... Our Silver and Gold Coins need to have Face Values that range from $1 to $100...

I love this particular coin! Very, very cool with great details. Seems like only yesterday the volcano took out a big part of the livable part of the island.
I didn't know that about the volcano, it's never good to be on an island when a volcano is erupting. From what I see it looks like it would be challenging to live on this island with the volcanic activity.
It would have sucked! I lived in Puerto Rico at the time not all that far away!

I know the coin you are talking about and I do think I like this design better then the Fiji coin. I think it has a more realistic look to it and 2022 is the only year of this design for the Montserrat coin.

It looks like the font came from a famous neighborhood called Montserrat in Buenos Aires. I never even thought about the font and the island country having the same name but it is pretty interesting.
