Логические средства доказательства и опровержения иногда называют допустимыми или корректными.
В дискуссиях, спорах они могут применяться более или менее искусно, а логические ошибки если и допускаются, то непреднамеренно и достаточно легко устраняются. Так бывает в споре, который называется спором для истины. Главное в том, что корректные способы не содержат каких-либо элементов обмана, подтасовки и тому подобное.
К допустимым приемам относится, например, умение захватить инициативу, направить ход полемики в выгодное для себя русло. В споре нередко активная, наступательная позиция становится одним из условий победы.
Преимущество получает тот, кому удается возложить на оппонента бремя доказательства и опровержения, кто сумеет сконцентрировать внимание присутствующих на наиболее слабом звене в аргументации стороны.
