Solar power and my political atheism.

image Why I detest political parties.
I am a conservative person. I also love freedom, even if that freedom is at odds with things I don't like or approve of. I believe in free market principles. My beliefs align most with the libertarian party and after that Republicans. Republicans that constantly disappoint me.
In my home state of Kentucky the power companies are straight out lobbying to rob people who have solar panels. Bill hr 277 is going to give a state commission the power to regulate how much a power can be banked in credits for a solar producer. No vote, no debate, just straight the stoke if a pen.
As it stands now the power company has to roll back a person's with solar panels meter back watt for watt. Sounds like a free battery for people with panels..right? Not really, the company charges different rates based on peak hours. When people with panels and producing power rates are 27 cents a kilowatts. That extra power is being sold to some other person for 27 cents, and the person who produced the power is going to use the credit during off peak hours when power cost 9 or 18 cents a kilowatts. Sound like chump change. Factor this in. The power company losses massive amounts of power in just moving power over distance. The 1 kilowatt used at a remote home (like mine) may have taken 1.5 kilowatt just to get to where it would be brought.
This is all a win win for everyone. The power company gets to sale power that they did not make. We all get better air and water quality, but no. The power co's don't like the current system and only want to credit 30% of what is produced and have in the bill to kill the growth of roof top solar in Ky to 1% of peak power per year.
This whole bill is job killer. Solar installers, solar panels makers. I hate regulation in all forms, it's always a bad experience and both parties put the corporations first and individual freedom's last.
This appears to be an issue that would unite people across party lines, but no most Republican voters are pro coal not matter how stupid the outcome. I am life long registered Republican, and I am sure Republican Ky politician's will once again fail to put individual freedom's above corporate lobby money.

I agree totally. The less government the better. Even if it means less pro solar legislation.

Agreed, gov falls on its face every step yet people still want it around for some strange reason.
