The Russian astronomer Elenin opened the sixth comet

The research associate of Institute of applied mathematics of M. V. Keldysha Leonid Elenin found a new comet. He could make discovery thanks to the avstreliysky telescope and the program of remote control of observatories.

On Elenin's account already six open comets, but this it opened by means of the software developed and written by him allowing to work far off with observatories — it is reported by TASS with reference to Institute of Keldysh.

The comet of C/2017 A3 (Elenin) is found in the southern sky on boundary of constellations of Kiel and the Stern during the plan review on the Australian telescope of the ISON network. It has the 18th star value and is available to amateur telescopes — Elenin explained to the correspondent of TASS.

Opening took place on the fifth of January. Then the astronomer saw a picture, information on which he gave in the Harvard Central bureau of astronomical telegrams. It notified and Centre of minor planets. A comet of C/2017 A3 (Elenin) — so it was designated — now it is very well visible, but its sizes are still unknown, now it can be considered only by means of telescopes of the Southern hemisphere of Earth.

Elenin marked that already from the second half of winter of 2017 the comet will begin to grow dull, and to its spring it won't be visible to amateur astronomers at all. However, big telescopes will continue observation.
