El hecho de que probablemente fui la primera persona en decir "Internet de las cosas" no me da ningún derecho a controlar cómo otros usan la frase. Pero lo que quise decir, y sigo diciendo en serio, es esto: hoy en día las computadoras y, por lo tanto, Internet dependen casi por completo de los seres humanos para obtener información. Casi la totalidad de los aproximadamente 50 petabytes (un petabyte de 1.024 terabytes) de datos disponibles en Internet fueron primero capturados y creados por seres humanos: escribiendo, presionando un botón de grabación, tomando una imagen digital o escaneando un código de barras. Los diagramas convencionales de Internet incluyen servidores y enrutadores, etc., pero dejan de lado los enrutadores más numerosos e importantes: las personas. El problema es que las personas tienen tiempo, atención y precisión limitados, todo lo cual significa que no son muy buenos para capturar datos sobre cosas en el mundo real.

- 1997: Tecnología inalámbrica M2M.
- 1999: "El Internet de las cosas" acuñado por Kevin Asthon, los dispositivos conectados heredan la internet, extendiendo la conectividad de la industria.
- 2002: Tecnología de la nube, Amazon web service toma el control de la tecnología.
-2006: OPC arquitectura unificada(OPC-UA) comunicacion segura entre dispositivos, datos y aplicaciones. - ** 2010:** Caída de los precios del sensor, esto ha impulsado el desarrollo de dispositivos de bajo costo.
Muy buen aporte amigo @dafp12 pero creo que deberías explicar la imagen que está en ingles, para uno detallar el proceso, a mi me parece muy interesante...
