Weekly Challenge: ???

Serpent of the Flame

The weekly battle challenge should be Efreet Elder, but I've never used one of those, so instead I'm going to talk about another fire monster, the Serpent of the Flame. A friend of mine delegated the card to me not realizing I lacked a leveled summoner to utilize the poison. Nonetheless, I still put the card to good use.

The stats it has at level 2 are: 5 speed, 1 melee attack 9 health, and 1 armour. It has the retaliate ability. Serpent of the Flame costs 6 Mana and is an Epic beta card in the Fire splinter.

This card's cool combination of retaliate and poison is what makes it a really fun card to use at level 3. But I didn't have that available to me during this battle.

The Battle

The rules:
50 Mana.
Reverse Speed.
Super Sneak.
Fire/Life/Water.

I fully expect a Sand Worm and one too low to have piercing. I hope I can use that one piece of armour to mitigate a huge attack. But even if there are no Sand Worms, there will likely be some things with sneak that I can retaliate against. Super sneak will grant my Serpent of the Flame sneak, he'll still be able to attack despite me putting him last in line and using him as a rearguard tank. I have my own assortment of slow monsters, including a Sand Worm of my own.

As it happens, my opponent goes with some similar themes. Despite it being a Fire vs Life match, it almost feels like a mirror.

We both go with demoralize, we both have a rearguard tank, we both have a Sand Worm. I suppose I'm the one not quite fitting my splinter. The thing that remains true to fire is Yodin Zaku giving my entire team blast, including my retaliating Serpent of the Flame.

Round 1: The tanks exchange hits. Disaster strikes as my opponent's Cave Slug takes out my Serpent of the Flame's armour, although it does bite back with a retaliation blast. My opponent's Sand Worm now has the chance to get an unmitigated attack in on my Serpent of the Flame, at least it gets another retaliation blast. Two more attacks take my Serpent of the Flame down, but it goes down with one last blasted retaliation.

From there it's a simple clean up from my guys as the chain reaction from blast helps me take out my opponent's team and my Serpent of the Flame gets me slightly more DEC than I would've received if I'd have just played what I'd usually have put in that spot.

Check Splinterlands out for yourself.
